Friendship Style

I have recently discovered the Friendship style skirt, which has become one of my favorite types of skirts. I love the fact that I can create an individual custom with two different fabrics.

Miss V, and I can customize our skirts to match each other. Sometimes we use the same fabrics on the main part of the skirt, like on our Santa skirts, while other times we mix and match, like on our Nightmare Before Christmas skirts.

Another option we have is adding coordinating piping. Sometimes we add the same color, while other times we pick different colors for our skirts.

I am currently in the process of making a purple and white Mickey "Fetti" Friendship skirt. This one is particularly fun to create since purples can be difficult to match. So, I picked Space Blue shorts and white piping. I am also having an individual custom raglan tank made. The body will be white mesh, and I will mix and match the neckline, armholes, and shoulders.

FlutterCut

FlutterCut™ is an A-line shaped skirt in the front and upper back; the bottom back is a 6-pleat ruffle, often made of a coordinating print. Undershorts feature approx. 6” to 7.75” inseam (based on size). The A-lined skirt flares into a pleated ruffle at the back and has built-in anti-microbial wicking Spandex undershorts. Store gear in the 6"x6" pockets on each leg of the undershorts and the 12" zippered waistband pocket.

These are just a few of my FlutterCuts.

Do you have FlutterCuts, if so please share them and use the hashtag: #FlutterCutFriday

Custom - Raglan Tops

Today, I want to share my experience of ordering custom raglan tops.

I love having the option to choose from different styles, but most of the time, I prefer the tank version. However, for our Santa tops, Miss V decided to try the short sleeve while I chose the ¾ sleeve. One of the options available is the hem length, which you can choose based on your preference. It is measured from the armpit to the hem.

If you take a look at a few of our tops, you'll notice that some were made with two different swim materials for the collar and sleeves. Miss V and I love having mesh for the body of the shirt, and there are multiple colors to choose from.

For the Monsters tank, I requested that Mike & Sully be prominently featured on the front of the sleeves, and I love the way it turned out. The collar is made from a coordinating fabric from my flutter skirt.

Matching our custom skirts with tops is something Miss V and I absolutely love doing, and we have so many options to choose from.

Creating a custom skirt step 2

Hey there! Just wanted to share the exciting news with you - after tallying up all the votes and comments, we have not one but two winners - One and Two! After I posted about it in the Bolder Buddy Group, I realized that since I have two shirts, Miss V might want to match them. So, I went ahead and ordered both of them. Just a heads up, the current TAT is 8-10 weeks.

Also, I had been holding onto the Golden Dreamer skort just in case I couldn't find any matching fabric. But now that I have these fabric options, I was going to list the skort for sale this week. However, a friend of mine who had bought a different skort from me was looking for the GD skort, and when I mentioned it, she decided to buy it from me.

Talk about perfect timing!

Custom - Prints including border prints

The next thing I would like to talk about individual custom skirts are prints, including border prints. With the custom option, one person, Leah, lays out the fabric, finds the best part of the design, and ensures that it is prominently displayed on the skirt.

For example, on my Lorax skirt, I requested the Thneed factory and Lorax on the front. For this Minion Flutter, I asked to have Gru & the Girls on the front, and both came out perfectly. For my Hogwarts Castle skirt, the castle was the main feature, and the pockets with Harry's glasses were a close second. Although this skirt is gorgeous, I will not publicly name the fabric shop and cannot recommend it. The Wizarding World skirt and capris did not require any specific requests as I loved every inch of the print. I especially enjoyed having the Quidditch pitch on the front. I was a Quidditch runner in HRC/PHRC, and the pockets are fantastic. Miss V loved her capris, and the buildings were in perfect alignment.

This is why custom skirts cost slightly more than stock skirts.
